Dolly arrived in May, 2016. Dolly was about 3-4 years of age when she arrived here from a backyard farming operation. We know very little about Dolly's history. From what we have heard, she had been picked out of her litter and designated a breeding sow. She had at least one litter of piglets, all of whom were either sold off to customers, or raised and slaughtered at the same farm. Pigs are highly intelligent, sentient beings and have deep feelings just as we do, especially for their babies. After her babies were taken from her, and she knew and heard they were being slaughtered, she was never the same. She was devastated, and could no longer get pregnant. Because she was no longer able to provide steady income for the farmers, it was determined that she would be slaughtered. A compassionate local woman stepped in and, through support in a Gofundme campaign, brought Dolly to Free Spirits. We love Dolly so much!
